A great talk that has stayed with me. She redefined attention and flow within a Web 2. 0 world. Linda Stone must be proud. Wow.

There are some good points buried in there but the presentation is horrible. Stammering, rushed, not in the flow. She wrote a linear article (much better read than heard) and then, simply read it with some nonsensical, uninformative slides to back it up. If the “medium is the message,” the message that Boyd is sending here (and it’s much louder than her words) is that she simply seems not to understand media. Shocking, really.

This is quite interesting. The sense of being aligned with information is a familiar phenomenon. First time I’ve hear boyd present, although I’ve read some of her papers. I appreciate her astute analysis of the challenges and opportunities that are presented by social media.

another great talk from danah! really enjoyed the exhortation to provide for contexts that enable users to reach that flow state: “the key is to get away from our utopian and [dystopian] ideas. . . ” yes, yes!
